March 19, 2019

President Nick Morgan called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. 48 people were in attendance.

Outgoing Secretary Robin Matthews read the minutes of the February 19, 2019 meeting. Pat Hatten made a motion to approve the minutes with Kathy Richmond seconding. The motion was approved. Vicky Worsham thanked Robin for his service to enthusiastic applause from all in attendance.

 Nick Morgan announced a slate of officers for 2019:

• Nick Morgan, President

• Doris Hill, Vice President

• Vicky Worsham, Secretary

• Caitlin Gulihur, Treasurer

• Ken Headrick, Member at Large

• Leslie Bush, Communications Chair

Doug Boyd made a motion to approve the slate of officers, seconded by Pat Hatten. The motion passed unanimously on a voice vote.

Nick requested that anyone owing membership dues for 2019 or seeking information on excavation opportunities see him at the close of the meeting. 

Walter Wakefield announced that rock art authority Carolyn Boyd will be speaking April 22, 2019 at 4:30pm for the UT Mesoamerican Studies Colloquium in the Doty Fine Arts Building, Room DFA2.204.

Nick Morgan introduced the speaker, Dr. Harry J. Shafer, who gave an excellent presentation on "The Classic Mimbres Culture at the NAN Ranch Ruin: Known Facts and New Findings." After his talk, Dr. Shafer announced that the Western New Mexico University Museum will have a Grand Reopening in July 2019 where new exhibits will focus on excavations at the NAN Ranch.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:25pm.
