Program Chair Leslie Bush called the meeting to order at 7pm. Minutes from the May meeting were read. Jean Hughes made a motion to approve them, and Robin Matthews seconded. The July Treasurer’s report was read. Financial activities since the last report were paying for some lab supplies and receiving some new membership dues. The current balance in the checking account is $11,941.93 checking. Petty cash has $28, and the CD has $5,232.22. Jean Hughes moved to accept the report, and Dan Prikryl seconded. A collection was taken to replenish the petty cash fund. After the speaker's meal was paid for, an additional $46 was added to petty cash.
Leslie announced that Tuesday lab work at the Texas Historical Commission archeology lab processing Joyful Horse artifacts is ongoing and coming along well with several volunteers present at each session. Prospective volunteers should contact President Nick Morgan. The lab is located at 4811 Wheless Lane. Tuesday volunteer hours are 10-3pm. Leslie shared a call for volunteers from Callan Clark for people to staff booths at the Concho Valley Archeology Fair in San Angelo on September 20, 2025. She also announced that bioarcheologist Annie Riegert Cummings will be our August speaker and author Donna Marie Miller will be the September speaker.
Leslie introduced Alan Slade, who presented an update on the Texas Fluted Point Survey. After the lecture, Leslie expressed appreciation for the talk and a question period ensued. Ken Headrick offered some of his fluted points for examination by the group. The official meeting adjourned at 7:45pm. There were 27 people in attendance. Several people stayed after the meeting to examine and discuss artifacts.
