At 7pm Nick Morgan of the TCAS called the meeting to order. Nick welcomed everyone. He also made some announcements. TCAS is conducting lab work every Tuesday at the THC Wheless Ave lab in northeast Austin. It starts at 10am and goes to 3-4pm. You can go to the Facebook page to sign up, or you can send Nick an email. You don’t have to stay the whole day. There are a lot of bags to go through, at least 300 bags left. He mentioned that they are making good progress.
The TAS Lithics Academy will be April 12 and 13 in Austin this year. We have been asked to help out. Nick said that we need some people to arrange the pick-ups of food, take it over to TARL, and drop it off. It shouldn’t take but a couple of hours.
Nick asked if anyone had any other announcements. Jim Schmidt mentioned that there is lab work going on at the THC Washington-on-the-Brazos lab and also at San Felipe de Austin. There were no other announcements.
Nick asked Secretary Immogene Mitcham to read the minutes. He noted that she is the new Secretary, but if anyone wants to take over the job they can as she is doing this on a temporary basis. Immogene read the minutes from the last meeting on February 18, 2025. Steve Black made the motion to approve the minutes. Chris Lintz seconded. The minutes were approved as read.
Nick asked Caitlin to give the Treasurer’s report. She said that there is $11,809.77 in checking account. There were three members who paid dues. In the CD account there is $5,231.95. She reminded everyone that dues are due. You can pay online by credit card or in person with cash or check. Caitlin mentioned that dues are $20 individual and $30 family. She also reminded everyone that the PO box is hard for her to get to on a regular basis. She mentioned that a budget has been drafted and we need to have an executive board meeting. Pat Mercado-Allinger made to the motion to approve the report. Leslie Bush seconded. The Treasurer's report was approved as read.
Nick asked Leslie Bush to introduce the David O. Brown, who talked about “An archaeological perspective on the Inka Conquest of northern Ecuador.” Afterwards, Nick thanked David for an inspiring program. He also mentioned that instead of a meeting in April, there would be a memorial service for TCAS past president of Carolyn Spock. The meeting was adjourned at 8:37pm. There were 22 people in attendance.
