President Nick Morgan called the meeting to order at 7pm. No April minutes were read because there was no program last month, the meeting being devoted to a tribute to Carolyn Spock. Caitlin Gulihur read the Treasurer’s report. Financial activities since the last report were paying for our Post Office box in April and receiving some new membership dues. The current balance in the checking account is $11,807.77 checking. Petty cash has $70, and the CD has $5,232.13. Members should note that the PO box has not been checked this month, so any dues mailed in have not been accounted. Jean Hughes moved to accept the report, and Robin Matthews seconded. The motion was approved with no objections.
Nick announced that Tuesday lab work at the Texas Historical Commission archeology lab processing Joyful Horse artifacts is ongoing and coming along well. A total of 8 volunteers were present last week. Prospective volunteers should contact Nick. The lab is located at 4811 Wheless Lane. Tuesday volunteer hours are 10-3pm.
Nick introduced Deputy State Archeologist Tiffany Osburn, who presented an engaging and informative talk about what to expect at the 2025 Texas Archeological Society Field School. She was joined by State Archeologist Brad Jones, who spoke about one of the areas to be investigated.
After a question period, Nick expressed appreciation for the talk. The meeting adjourned a t 7:53pm. There were 35 people in attendance.
Respectfully submitted,
